The fantabulous Cirque de Soleil

2008 November 20

I had a magical time watching CdS’s Kooza show tonight. Clowns, trapeze artists, jugglers, colorful lights and music — it was awesome. My favorite acts were the three young female contortionists who began the show – their bodies seeming virtually boneless as they perched on top of each other’s little chests; and the Chinese guy who balanced atop a 23-foot tower of chairs. The Wheel of Death was also magnificent. I’d join the circus in a heartbeat if only I had a crazy act (I tried to think of one but the only thing I could come up with is that I can twitch both my ears but that doesn’t seem showstopping enough.) Anyhow I’d have to get over stage fright. Tonight they were taking volunteers from the audience and we were seated close to the stage and I was trying very hard not to be conspicuous. (I was really scared they would call me and I would faint. Hahaha.)

We got premium tickets and sat about ten feet away (and it cost about 12 dollars per foot) but it was well worth it the respite from all the doom and gloom. Cirque de Soleil defies the weight of the world and takes us along for the ride if only for a few precious hours :)
